Obituary for Audrey Louise Ek
Audrey L. Ek, of Merrill, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018, at her home under the care of her family and hospice services.
Audrey was born in Rhinelander, the daughter of the late Frank and Signy Peter. She married Woodrow L. Ek on April 5, 1952, in Rhinelander. He preceded her in death on March 12, 2015, in Merrill. Audrey had been a Youth Counselor at Lincoln Hills School, Irma, for 25 years. She enjoyed shopping, watching hockey, and spending time with her grandchildren. Audrey was an active member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Merrill.
Audrey is survived by her three children, Juli Ek-Marchel (husband, Denny Marchel) of River Falls, Marcia Ek of Wausau, and Mitch (Mary) Ek of Merrill; three grandchildren, Seth Marchel, Xander and Jadzia Harrell; four step grandchildren, Brian (Jenny) Genrich, Kris (Tracey) Marchel, Joshua Marchel, and Kara (Steven) Bradford; four step great grandchildren, Dylan and David Genrich, and Kylie and Kaybri Marchel; one step great granddaughter due in April; and three brothers, Raymond Peter, Bernard (Judy) Peter, and Tom (Mary) Peter, all of Rhinelander. Besides her husband and parents, Audrey is preceded in death by four siblings, Beulah Warekois, Douglas, Donald, and David Peter.
Audrey’s funeral will be at a 12 Noon, Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Patricia Schutz will officiate. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM THURSDAY at the church.
