Obituary for Richard W. 'Dick' King Sr.
Richard W. ‘Dick’ King, Sr., 86, of Merrill passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Dick was born on November 7, 1935, in Merrill, son of the late Ben and Edith (Hipke) King. He married Delores ‘Dee Dee’ Savaske in 1955 in Minnesota. She preceded him in death on January 22, 2015. Dick worked as a truck driver for the Merrill Street Department until his retirement in the 90’s.
Dick was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, going to the cabin, four-wheeling, going out to breakfast with his brothers daily, going to church, and spending time helping out on his grandson’s tree farm.
Survivors include his grandsons, Ryan King (Penny Callahan) of Merrill and Ben King (Tessa Hellenbrand) of Pardeeville; brothers, Irvin King of Tomahawk and Alan King of Merrill; and many nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Delores ‘Dee Dee’ King; parents, Ben and Edith King; son, Richard ‘Rick’ King, Jr.; and infant son, Matthew King.
The funeral service for Dick will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Scott Gustafson will officiate. Burial will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M., Wednesday at the funeral home. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family.
