Obituary for William 'Bill' Borchardt
William J. ‘Bill’ Borchardt, 89, of Merrill, passed away Friday, August 17, 2018 at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Bill was born July 1, 1929, son of the late Richard and Bernadette (Godin) Borchardt. He married Anne B. Peplinski on October 6, 1962, in Pulaski. She preceded him in death on October 21, 2012. Bill enlisted in the United States Army on May 11, 1953. He was honorably discharged on April 7, 1955. Bill and his wife, Anne, dairy farmed in the town of Merrill. For many years, Bill served on the Board of Directors for Consumer Coop in Merrill and Equity Coop Livestock. He served several years as the president of each board. Bill was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill, and was active with the church’s parish council. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Irma Lions Club and involved with various other clubs.
Survivors include his daughter, Rosemary Borchardt of Merrill; son, Evan Borchardt (Kathy Drake) of Merrill; siblings, Mary Ann Borchardt of Merrill, Betty (Gerald) Tease of De Pere, WI and Robert (Marge) Borchardt of Brown Deer, WI; and several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Borchardt; his parents, Richard and Bernadette Borchardt; and an infant brother, Richard Francis Borchardt.
The funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Deacon Jim Arndt will preside. Burial will take place at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Merrill, with graveside military rites conducted by Merrill V.F.W. Post 1638 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
