Obituary for Walter L. "Wally" Sczygelski
Walter L. ‘Wally’ Sczygelski, Jr., age 64, of the Town of Pine River, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Wally was born September 21, 1955 in Merrill, son of the late Walter and Marilyn Sczygelski, Sr. He married Joanne Ponshock on December 17, 1988. She survives. Wally had been a tow motor operator at Wausau Paper – Brokaw Division. He enjoyed camping, playing cards, four wheeling, and his pet dog. Wally’s great joy was spending time with his family and many friends.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne Sczygelski, Merrill; his son, Joseph Sczygelski, Merrill; three sisters, Linda Sczygelski-Works, Merrill, Twyla Sczygelski, Rib Mountain, and Chansa (Mark) Fredricks, Merrill; four brothers, Wes Sczygelski, Merrill, Billy Sczygelski (Ann Pankow), Town of Rock Falls, Monty (Joanne) Sczygelski and Howard (Mickie) Sczygelski, both of Merrill; his best friends, Jerry and Debbie Laak of Merrill; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Wally is preceded in death by one brother, Leon.
A celebration of Wally’s life will take place at a later date. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill is assisting the family.
