Obituary for Veronica 'Boots' Zwirchitz
Veronica J. ‘Boots’ Zwirchitz, age 95, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at her home.
Veronica ‘Boots’ was born on November 18, 1926, in Merrill to the late Michael and Ann (Wyland) Hudzinski. Boots was the first baby ever born at the Holy Cross Hospital in Merrill. She married Edward ‘Ed’ Zwirchitz on April 12, 1947, in Merrill, and he preceded her in death on May 3, 2004.
Boots worked for the Merrill Daily Herald doing a variety of jobs for many years. She enjoyed cooking, going to the cottage, and spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. In her earlier years Boots participated in both bowling and golf leagues.
Boots is survived by her children, Michael (Jill) Zwirchitz of Merrill, Mary (Mike) Krueger of Hazelhurst, and Lori (Bob) Grefe of Merrill; grandchildren, Gretchen (David) Weber, Michael (Martha) Krueger, Coreen (Sulieman) Holman, Christofer (Crystal) Grefe, Andy Zwirchitz, and David Zwirchitz; and great-grandchildren, Olive, Wilson, Veda, Riley, Dylan, Sam, Eliana, Xavier, Willow, and Taelynn. Boots was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Zwirchitz; her parents, Michael and Ann Hudzinski; and brother, Mike Hudzinski.
Boots’ children would like to thank her niece, Kathy Muschinske, for the special care and support she provided their mom with.
A private family service will take place in Spring of 2022.
Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lincoln County Humane Society, Merrill.
