
Obituary for Shirley A. Roberts
Shirley A. Roberts, 76, of Merrill, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.
Shirley was born February 1, 1940, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, daughter of the late Rommie and Lena (Canada) Roberts, Sr. She married Kenneth Sturm on December 30, 1959. They later divorced. Shirley worked at various retail stores in the Merrill and Milwaukee areas. Shirley enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, painting, crafts, and spending time with her grandchildren. Shirley honorably served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherry (Glen) Schuelke, Merrill, and Kerry (Mike) Bartol, Marathon City; five grandchildren, Liza (Robert) Atkinson, Briana Elias, Gregory Laabs, Joshua Laabs and Nickolas Schuelke; four great-grandchildren, Elliot, Riley, Louise and Miles; one brother, Roger (Debbie) Roberts, Obion, Tennessee; three sisters, Carolyn (Bobby) Vaughn, Gates, Tennessee, Joyce (Allen) Weaver, Dyersburg, Tennessee and Ellen (Daryl) Grieggs, Munford, Tennessee; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Roberts, Newbern, Tennessee. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Rommie Roberts, Jr. and Infant Joseph Roberts.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 10, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Scott Gustafson will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, Dyersburg, Tennessee. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Monday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family.
