Obituary for Ronald R. Lemmer

Ronald Robert Lemmer, 80, formerly of Wausau, passed away on December 12, 2017 at Woodland Court Elder Services, Merrill.

Ron was born on December 1, 1937, to the late Aloys and Frances (Hornung) Lemmer in Marathon.

As a young boy, he spent the first 5 years of his life with his family in Marathon, moving to Milwaukee during World War II. After the war, the family moved to a farm in Rib Falls, and then to the family farm in the Town of Marathon.

Ron married his loving wife Angeline (Sczygelski) April 25, 1959 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marathon. The couple lived in Wausau and was blessed with 7 children.

Ron retired from Marathon Electric in 2004 after 47 years with the company.

He served in the United States Army and National Guard and this past April traveled to Washington DC with the Never Forgotten Honor Flight.

Ron loved anything that had to do with motorsports, be it riding around on his motorcycles or tinkering with cars and boats. He also enjoyed traveling, reading, history and treasure hunting at garage sales to add to his many collections. Most of all, he loved visits with family and friends.

He is survived by his children: Ronald (Debra) Lemmer, Susan (Brad) Berndt, Mary (Joe) Wusterbarth, Tom (Kathy) Lemmer, Dan (Ann) Lemmer, Sharon (Matt) Grimm and Brian (Jill) Lemmer; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings: Norman (Maryann) Lemmer, James (Karla) Lemmer, George Lemmer, Doris (Conrad) Heil, Marlene Handrick, Barbara (Robert) Murkowski; sister-in-law, Jan Lemmer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; wife Angie; grandson Gio; and brother Marvin.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 A.M.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents at Woodland Court for all their care and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Never Forgotten Honor Flight Wausau, your local VFW, or Brightfocus Foundation for Alzheimer’s and Dementia Research.
