Obituary for Rick A. Osness
On the morning of April 3rd, 2022, Rick A. Osness passed away unexpectedly at his home. Rick was born to Carol (and the late Dale) Osness November 16, 1958, and was the eldest of their eight children.
Rick was a sports enthusiast, athlete, and nicknamed Earl. He collected memorabilia from his favorite teams and organized a personal sports history library. Rick had excellent taste in music and built an extensive album collection. Also, he enjoyed touring national parks, like Zion and Bryce Canyon, when he lived in Utah from 2000-2015.
Rick graduated from North Central Technical College in 1983 with an accounting degree. He worked for Nestle Co. in Provo, Utah but later moved closer to family in 2017 where he retired from Lincoln Wood in 2020. He spent time cheering on the Packers, Chicago Blackhawks, St. Louis Cardinals, and played board games with his grandchildren.
Rick is survived by his mother, Carol; loving children, Aaron (Ginger) Osness, Ransey Osness (Kaitlin Mitchell), Loni Osness (Stephen Francour), Michelle Osness; his grandchildren, Izzy, Leo; and step-grandchild, Devon. In addition, he is also survived by his siblings, Kerri Wolff, Ron (Margaret) Osness, Ryan (Pam) Osness, Kathi Porter, Rhonda Osness, and Rory (Tami) Osness along with many nieces and nephews. Rick was preceded in death by his father; sister, Kim Russell; and granddaughter, Taylor.
His loss is deeply felt, and he was very loved by his family. Rick will be remembered and missed every day.
A memorial service for Rick will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, with Rev. Patricia Schutz officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 4:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
