Ralph was born on November 12, 1937, in Merrill, son of the late Ralph and Ernestine (Kleinschmidt) Voigt. He married Arlene Uekert on September 11, 1965, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rib Falls. She survives. Ralph worked as a bridge construction carpenter for most of his working years and later worked as a foreman for Edward Kraemer and Sons. In addition to these jobs Ralph also helped his wife with daycare in his off time from work, this is something both him and the children enjoyed.
Ralph was a kind man who helped others every chance he could, he was slow to anger and cared for those he loved. He often helped others with their lawn work and shoveling. Ralph enjoyed reading, polka music, taking walks, and spending time with his family.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Arlene Voigt of Merrill; daughter Carmen (David Taggart) Voigt of Merrill; son, Ralph L. (Tina) Voigt of Galesville; granddaughter, Molly (Nickolai Mueth) Kleinschmidt of Merrill; sisters, Dawn (Gerald) Schmidt of Merrill, Darlene (David) Herdt of Merrill, Carol (Mark) Pankow of Merrill, and Shirley Hopkins of Wausau; brothers, Wayne (Virginia) Voigt of Merrill, LaVerne (Linda) Voigt of Merrill, and Mike Voigt of Texas; sister-in-law, Phyllis Voigt of Merrill; and special daycare children, Ben Bonke, Tim Jahnke, Samantha (Jahnke) Klump, Dominic Greenlee, Miles Greenlee, and Michelle Tlusty. Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Ernestine Voigt; brothers, James Voigt and Gene Voigt; and brother-in-law, Donald (Carol) Uekert.
