Obituary for Phyllis M. Kottke
Phyllis Kottke, 85, of the town of Hamburg, Marathon County, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at her home under the care of her family and hospice services.
Phyllis was born August 6, 1936, in Wisconsin, daughter of the late John and Anna (Koehler) Krause. She married LaVern Kottke on September 11, 1954. He preceded her in death October 26, 2021. Phyllis was a homemaker, farmed with her husband, and also milked cows. In her younger years she enjoyed going dancing. Phyllis was a good baker, she often made homemade bread and lemon meringue pie. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hamburg, where she also served as a past president of the Ladies Aid. Most importantly, Phyllis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved family gatherings.
Survivors include four daughters, Diane Kottke, Faye Kottke, Lucy Plisch, and Chris Draper, all of the town of Hamburg; six grandchildren, Jon, Brian, Steve, Stephanie, Jennifer, and Melinda; and thirteen great grandchildren, Sadie, Brayden, Gauge, Airia, Bear, Hannah, Jeffery, Maddy, Allison, Macie, Bobby, Lauren, and Daniel. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Krause; husband, LaVern Kottke; son-in-law, Wayne Plisch; and her siblings, Sylvia (Wilbert) Sturm, Lawrence (Lavine) Krause, Lavila (Elroy) Schmidt, Edgar (Emogene) Krause, and Gilbert (Phyllis) Krause.
The funeral will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the town of Hamburg. The Rev. Joel Danner will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Tuesday at the church. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family.
