Obituary for Paul M Goetz
Paul M. Goetz, age 70, passed away unexpectedly on February 22, 2018, in Wausau.
Paul was born April 12, 1947, in Merrill, the third of five children born to the late Dora Lydia (Edwards) and the late Adolph Albert Goetz. Paul was a graduate of Merrill Senior High School, U.W. Stevens Point, and Marquette University Law School, class of 1973. He had been a private practice attorney in Janesville, Chetek, and Wausau. Paul also served as Lincoln County District Attorney during the mid-1990’s. Paul enjoyed attending seminars, the occasional visit to the casino, and sharing a good story. Paul also enjoyed spending time at the ‘shack’ in Newwood. There he could enjoy the solitude of nature, watch the wildlife, and listen to the waters of the nearby river. Paul had looked forward to spending even more time in Newwood in retirement. His presence at the ‘shack’ will be missed.
Paul is survived by his siblings, Martha (Paul) Clayton, Carolyn Goetz, and David (Cathy Wendorf) Goetz; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Paul is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Michael John Goetz; five cousins from the Goetz family; and two cousins from the Edwards family.
A Memorial Service for Paul will begin at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 4, 2018, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. The Rev. Greg Laska will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in Snow Hill Cemetery, Town of Scott. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home from 5-7 PM on Thursday, May 3rd, and again after 10:00 AM Friday, May 4th. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family.
