Obituary for Owen Thomas Cordova
Owen Thomas Cordova 4-24-2005

Our world was blessed and forever altered on April 24th, 2005 when God gifted us Owen and forever altered again the morning of September 30th, 2021. Owen was traveling way too fast on his way to school when he lost control on a corner resulting in a terrible collision with multiple trees. God and his grandmother Lynn immediately wrapped their loving arms around him and welcomed him to his eternal home.

Kind, generous, respectful, and slow to anger, were just a few of his many amazing qualities. Owen’s personality and sense of humor from the moment he learned to talk was so outsized he could not help but share it with everyone around him, often to the dismay of his teachers throughout the years.

Owen started fishing as soon as he could hold a pole with a metal washer tied to the line. As a very small child he would stand on the end of our dock and cast for hours. Whether it was fishing the Wisconsin River in front of his home, saltwater in the gulf or the hard water in the winter it remained his passion. Through his short but amazing life Owen also enjoyed hunting of all kinds, playing football, wrestling, snowmobiling and within the last year “hitting the weights”. His greatest sports passion however was baseball. He loved the game and his teammates. In the last year Owen worked often on his hitting and pitching and was determined to be at his best for the 2022 baseball season.

Owen often spoke of serving his country after high school and his natural mechanical aptitude and strong work ethic would have served him well in any future pursuits.

Anyone who ever met Owen Thomas Cordova will miss him but none will feel the loss more keenly than the large family he loved who will carry his memories forever. Owen is survived by parents Jeremy and Carrie (Kulawinski) Cordova and his beloved sister Lily. Grandparents Joe Cordova and Lynn (Bogenhagen) Cordova – deceased. Grandmother Nancy Teal and family. Grandparents Ron and Cher (Woller) Kulawinski. Uncle Rick Kulawinski. Uncle Joshua and Marcella (Robl) Cordova, cousins Hunter and Maggie. Uncle Jacob and Andrea (Toburen) Cordova, cousins Ethan and Olivia. Aunt Jennifer Cordova, Jeffrey Jehn, and cousins Aidan and Brendan Blystone. Uncle Joe and Hilary (Janecek) Cordova cousins Willow and Quinn. Uncle Jamie and Sarah (Patrick) Cordova, cousins Teagan and Delilah. In addition to his immediate family Owen had many great uncles, great aunts, and over 100 cousins that will all miss him greatly.

In Owen’s case it is only too true that the brightest lights burn for the shortest time.

Any gifts received in memory of Owen will go to benefit both Merrill Baseball and Merrill Wrestling associations.
