Obituary for Norman E. Ziemke
Norman E. Ziemke, 85, of Merrill, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital with his loving wife at his side.
Norm was born June 18, 1934 in Lincoln County, son of the late Albert and Emily Ziemke, Sr. He married Alice Zimmerman on July 28, 1956 in St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill. She survives. Norm worked for the Merrill Area Public School System for 34 years. At the time of his retirement he was their Maintenance Supervisor. Norm enjoyed casino trips, and in his younger years he enjoyed camping with his family. Norm served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard.
Survivors include his wife Alice Ziemke, Merrill; one daughter, Rebecca (Randy) Teske of Merrill; two sons, Michael (Barbara) Ziemke and Vernon (Lottie) Ziemke, both of Merrill; six grandchildren, Allison (Lance) Glisch, Mitchell (Emily) Ziemke, Stephanie (Brandon) Lawrie, Zachary Ziemke, Danielle (Dave) Breaman, and Hannah Ziemke; five great grandchildren, Ella, Lily, Zoey, Jacob, and Emersyn; three great grandchildren on the way; a sister, Carol Plautz, Merrill; and a sister in law, Shirley Ziemke, Merrill. Besides his parents, Norm is preceded in death by two brothers, Albert ‘Sonny’ (wife, Holly) Ziemke, Jr. and Francis ‘Frank’ Ziemke; and one brother in law, Jerry Plautz.
Due to the current COVID-19 mandates, a memorial service and celebration of Norm’s life will be held at a later date. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill is assisting the family.
