Obituary for Nancy Lynn Hagedorn-Woller

Nancy Lynn Hagedorn-Woller, 63, of Plover, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Aspirus St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point.

Nancy, the daughter of Richard and Dolores (Wegner) Hagedorn, was born in Merrill on March 15, 1958. Nancy was baptized at St. James Lutheran Church in the Town of Pine River and confirmed at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Merrill of which she is a member.

Nancy was raised on the family farm in the Town of Pine River and attended Pine River Elementary School, Merrill Junior and Senior High School graduating in 1976. She then attended UW Marathon Center and UW Stevens Point graduating in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in art education and fashion merchandising. In 1978 while attending college she moved to Stevens Point and became a part time employee of United Parcel Service (UPS) from 1978-2008. After graduation besides working at UPS Nancy was employed at Milwaukee Screen Printing shop and was the assistant manager at Newport Sportswear store. She also worked at various restaurants and bar and grill establishments.

On November 16, 1996, Nancy married Philip E. Woller at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Merrill. They moved to Plover, WI after their marriage.

At a young age Nancy’s grandmother taught her the basic techniques of sewing- the sewing tools, basic stitches and construction processes. Through the years Nancy designed and sewed many of her clothes and did special sewing projects for her family and friends. While in college she was awarded a trip to New York City to visit headquarters for fashion design and merchandising.

Being raised in a family of musicians Nancy’s interest and musical talent flourished. She played clarinet in the Junior and Senior High School bands and Merrill City band and tenor saxophone in the jazz band. She spent many years playing in the Dick Richen’s Orchestra performing at public and private dances, weddings, anniversaries, and church polka services in Merrill and surrounding areas.

Nancy was very creative and enjoyed all aspects of art. Her specialty was pencil and chalk drawings in which she excelled. She was also a designer- craftsman using her training as an artist to help her produce handicrafts. She always created original designs for her craft items which made them unique. Both her artwork and handicrafts were displayed at the Lincoln County fair and craft fairs in the vicinity.

As a diversion from daily activities Nancy liked playing league darts and bowling, polka dancing, traveling, playing cribbage, both card and board games, sudoku, watching TV especially football, professional wrestling, and comedies.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Philip Woller of Plover; her sister-in-law, Joan Hagedorn of Madison; her nephew, Richard (Hannah) Hagedorn III of Monroe; as well as other relatives and friends.
