Obituary for Marlene J. Hinz
Marlene J. Hinz, age 82, of Merrill, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Marlene was born December 3, 1935, in Wausau, daughter of the late Leslie and Ida (Peterson) McCrossen. She married Donald D. Hinz on May 10, 1958, in Wausau. He preceded her in death on February 20. 2014. Marlene was a retired employee of both the Weinbrenner Shoe Company and the T.B. Scott Library, both in Merrill. She enjoyed reading, dancing, playing the flute and both listening to and performing music, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, watching movies, the Green Bay Packers and the St. Louis Cardinals, and spending time with her grandchildren. Marlene’s faith was important to her. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill, the Glory & Praise Group of the church, a former member of the church choir, and a weekly participant of the Prayer & Adoration Room at St. Francis.
Marlene is survived by three children, Sandy (Bill) Steigerwaldt, Tomahawk, and Debbie (Paul) Wagner and Randy Hinz, both of Merrill; four grandchildren, Taylor Belant, Andy Yorde, Matt Yorde (fiancée, Anne Bartholomew) and Michael Yorde; and brother, DuWayne McCrossen, Wausau. Marlene was preceded in death her husband; parents; and a son, David Hinz.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 P.M., Noon, Friday, January 12, 2018, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill. Father Chris Kemp will preside. Burial will follow in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Friday at the church. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family.
