Obituary for Katherine P Lau
Katherine P. Lau, age 70, of Merrill, passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, under the care of her family and hospice services.
Kathy was born April 24, 1947, in Antigo, daughter of the late Paul W. Mielke, Jr. and Dorothy (Hopp) Mielke. She married Raymond Lau on August 3, 1968, in Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Merrill. He survives. Kathy was primarily a homemaker. She had also worked at Drew’s Supermarket, Pine Crest Nursing Home, and Oconomowoc Canning Company, all of Merrill. Kathy enjoyed bowling, knitting, baking, especially her ‘monster cookies’, and spending time with her family at the cabin in the Tomahawk area. Kathy treasured her grandkids and enjoyed attending their sporting events or dance recitals.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Raymond Lau, Merrill; three daughters, Pam (Warren) Steffenhagen, Jodi (Brian) Steinagel, and Dena Lau, all of Merrill; one son, Peter (Susie) Lau, Vermillion, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Broc Thums, Ciara Steffenhagen, Brandon Koehler, Bridget and Jase Steinagel, Martin ‘Marty’ Lau, and Anthony ‘Tony’ Lau; one sister, Marlene Mielke, Roseville, Minnesota; and one brother, Gerald (Nancy) Mielke, Hudson, Wisconsin.
Kathy’s funeral will begin at 12:00 PM (Noon), Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. The Rev. Susan Christian will officiate. Burial will follow in Merrill Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
