Obituary for June J. Magray

June J. Magray, 81, lifelong resident of the Town of Pine River, Lincoln County, passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, surrounded by her family.


June was born June 3, 1941, in Merrill, daughter of the late Edward and Stephanie (Lebon) Uttech. She married Alvin ‘Mickey’ Magray on April 20, 1963 in Merrill, and he preceded her in death on December 31, 1982. June and Leonard ‘Len’ Polak were married on March 13, 1993, he survives. June worked for thirty years at the former Wausau Employers Insurance; she retired in 1996. June and Len co-owned and operated J&L Excavating for ten years.


June was a member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Gleason. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, baking, traveling, and 4-wheeling. She also enjoyed spending time with her family at their cottage on Lake Buteau in Harrison.


June is survived by her husband of thirty years, Leonard ‘Len’ Polak of Merrill; sons, Michael (Kelly) Magray of Merrill and John (Vanessa) Magray of Kewaskum; stepchildren, Amy Matz of Parker, CO, Dennis (Sheila) Polak of Merrill and Delmer (Tracey) Polak of Merrill; grandchildren, Alexis (Alex) Yost, Trevor Magray, and Aubrey Magray; great-grandchildren, Aries and Axel; step grandchildren, Alison (Josh) Pint Stanfield; Adam, Nolan, Grant, and Jack Polak, and Drew and Alana Polak; step great-grandchildren, Arlo and Lennon; sister, Darlene Rethaber of Merrill; and sister-in-law, Diana Uttech of Merrill.


June was preceded in death by her first husband, Alvin ‘Mickey’ Magray; parents, Edward and Stephanie Uttech; brother, James Uttech; stepson, Chad Polak; and brother-in-law, Oswald ‘Ozzie’ Rethaber.


The memorial service for June will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Luther Memorial Church in Gleason. Rev. Greg Laska will officiate. Visitation will begin at 12:00 P.M. Saturday at the church. Burial of June’s cremated remains will take place at a later date. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family.
