Obituary for Joyce L. Kanapka
Joyce L. Kanapka, 89, of Merrill, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Pine Crest Nursing Home.
Joyce was born on February 26, 1932, in Deerbrook, daughter of the late Charles and Katherine (Kluball) Wetzel. She married Elmer Kanapka on June 21, 1952 at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Gleason, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death. Joyce was a homemaker, she also volunteered her time being a granny at Lincoln Hills and Lily School teaching reading at both for many years. Joyce loved animals and gardening, she was always happy, smiling, singing, and laughing.
Joyce is survived by her daughters, Shirley Radeck of Germantown, Linda Kanapka of Sussex, Debra (Dwight) Jutrzonka of Wind Lake, and Kim (Jim) Burg of Hartford; son, Larry Kanapka of Gleason; grandchildren; Roxanne Radeck, Breyan (Ron) Timms, Jason (Jessica) Kanapka, Shane Kanapka, Chris Burg, Jacob Burg, and Jordan Burg; great-grandchildren, Chase Kanapka, Eyan Kanapka, and Nolan Radeck; granddaughter in law, Megan Radeck; sister, Glenda DeLarwell; and brother, Calvin (Phyllis) Wetzel. Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Kanapka; parents, Charles and Katherine Wetzel; grandson, Justin Radeck; and seven siblings.
The funeral service for Joyce will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Gleason. Pastor Greg Laska will officiate. Burial will take place in Summit Cemetery, Town of Summit. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the church.
Joyce’s family would like to thank the staff at Pine Crest Nursing Home for their wonderful care of Joyce throughout the years.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes all donations be directed to the church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
