Obituary for Jean E. Zastrow
Jean E. Zastrow, 85, of Athens, died Friday, August 3, 2018 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Jean was born November 20, 1932, in Marathon County, daughter of the late Raymond and Leona (Plautz) Borchardt. She married Eldred Zastrow on September 8, 1951. He preceded her in death on March 13, 2013. Jean and Eldred had farmed in the Town of Hamburg for many years. She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Town of Hamburg. Jean enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, sewing, making handmade rugs, embroidery and baking.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Kay (Scott) Drake, Julie (Richard) Kuck and Jolene (Jeff) Draxler, all of Athens; grandchildren, Amanda (Trever) Ostrowski, Jill (Jonathon) Heier, Justin (Shannon) Kuck, Jordan Kuck, Jeremy Kuck, Brittany (Phil) Suckow, Brooke Draxler (Wes Kottke) and Bradley Draxler; great-grandchildren, Jace and Riley Ostrowski, Hattie, Piper, Maverick and Drake Heier, Mason, Nora and Korbin Kuck and Hunter Suckow; and sister, Marion Jehn of Wausau. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Eldred Zastrow; parents, Raymond and Leona Borchardt; and sister, Elaine Paul.
A private funeral service was held. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, assisted the family with arrangements.
