Obituary for Jacob R. Sommi
Jacob R. Sommi, age 91, of Merrill, died Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
Jacob was born November 25, 1924, in Lincoln County, son of the late Jacob and Laura (Evans) Sommi. He married Jeannette Krueger on June 30, 1951, she survives. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannette Sommi of Merrill; one daughter, Bonnie Krause of Merrill; one son, Butch (Jane) Sommi of Freedom, WI; one brother, Roger (Evelyn) Sommi of Wausau, WI; two sisters, Virginia Schneider of southern Wisconsin and June Hoffman of Menasha, WI; four grandchildren, Josh (Misti Moede) Krause, Adam Krause, Steve (Leah Meyer) Sommi and Peter Sommi; four great-grandchildren, MacKenah Krause, Johnny Krause, Ace Krause and Gavin Sommi; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Jacob was preceded in death by his parents; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dorothy and Bill Hommerding, and also his brothers-in-laws James Schneider and Herb Hoffman.
A private family funeral service was held. Entombment took place in Merrill Memorial Park Mausoleum, Merrill. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, assisted the family.
