Obituary for Irene M. Jourdan
Irene M. Jourdan, 96, of Merrill, passed away peacefully Friday, January 10, 2020 at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Irene was born April 3, 1923, in Merrill, daughter of the late John and Bertha (Clovstad) Mork. Irene married Gene Jourdan on May 3, 1946, in Merrill. He preceded her in death on December 3, 2014. Irene had worked at the former McClelland’s Department Store in Merrill. She volunteered as a candy striper at the former Holy Cross Hospital in Merrill, and had also volunteered as an election poll worker. Irene was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Merrill. Irene and her husband, Gene, enjoyed polka dancing.
Survivors include her son, Pastor Larry Jourdan of Kewanee, Illinois; and other relatives and friends. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Jourdan; and her parents; John and Bertha Mork.
The funeral service for Irene will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. The Rev. Patricia Schutz will officiate. Burial will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
