Obituary for Hildegarde M. Seeger
Hildegarde M. ‘Gardie’ Seeger, 96, of Merrill, passed away Monday, October 8, 2018 at Woodland Court Elder Services, Merrill.
Hildegarde was born April 8, 1922 in Merrill, daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Scheu) Hass. She married Frederick C. Seeger on May 6, 1944. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2000. Gardie had attended the former Lincoln County Normal School and taught for three years in the Town of Harding and the Town of Doering. Gardie and her husband were the former co-owners/co-operators of Seeger’s Dairy in Merrill. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Gardie was a Green Bay Packers season ticket holder and was a Packers fan. She enjoyed traveling and spending time at their home in Florida.
Survivors include her daughters, Marilyn (Roger) Brandenburg of Merrill, Ann (Rev. Phil) Ritter of Stanton, Iowa and Kay (Steve) Maluegge of Merrill; sons, Steven (Bobbie Franklin) Seeger of Gallup, New Mexico, Stanley (Debra) Seeger of Merrill and Stuart (Janet) Seeger of Parkville, Missouri; 14 grandchildren, Greg (Denise) Brandenburg, Lisa (Paul) Piikkila, Jodi (John) Juhlke, Scott (Jena) Brandenburg, Jonathon Ritter, Ross Seeger, Kevin Seeger, Kelsey Seeger, Tim Seeger, Brian (Kaitlyn) Seeger, Jill (Joel) Schmidt, Luke (Kimberley) Maluegge, Ben (Amanda) Seeger and Nicholas Seeger; 19 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Raymond (Geri) Hass of Florida; and sister-in-law, Lorene Hass of Merrill. Hildegard was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Seeger; parents, Henry and Anna Hass; great-granddaughter, Madison Lyn Seeger; sister, Irene McDonald; and brothers, Harold, Art, Arnie, Norman and Edward Hass.
The funeral service for Hildegarde will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. Scott Gustafson will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Town of Scott. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Thursday at the church. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill.
