Grace L. Batchelder, 90, of Merrill, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2023, at her home under the care of her family and Compassus Hospice.
Grace was born May 19, 1933, in the Town of Pine River, daughter of the late Lyndon and Emma (Verbeck) Geiger. She married Donald Batchelder on May 21, 1952, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Bloomville. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1962. Grace worked as a head cashier at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, Nevada, for 26 years. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and canning.
Grace is survived by her daughter, Julie Miller; son, Michael (Susan) Batchelder; grandchildren, Sarah (Ed) Fuchs, Zachary (Megan) Batchelder, Donald (Kelli) Miller, and Alex Batchelder (Angel Wolff); ten great-grandchildren; and brother, Gordon Geiger. Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Batchelder; parents, Lyndon and Emma Geiger; son, Stephen Batchelder; and son-in-law, Vance Miller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 15, 2023, in Holy Cross Chapel at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill. Father Mariadas Vallabhaneni will preside. Burial will follow in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Merrill. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill.
