
Obituary for Ernest Weisskopf
Ernest ‘Ernie’ Weisskopf, 92, of Merrill, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at his home under the care of his family and hospice services.
Ernie was born July 27, 1928, in the Town of Schley, Lincoln County, son of the late Adolph and Elsie (Stampfli) Weisskopf. He married MaryAnn D. Klade on October 25, 1952, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. She preceded him in death on March 7, 2016. Ernie had been a dairy farmer in the town of Schley. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing, gardening and canning, playing cards, and woodworking. Ernie was the ‘handy man’ in the family and could fix or repair most anything. He was affectionately known in the family as ‘Grandpa Trouble’.
Ernie is survived by his daughter, Diana (John) Allen of Merrill; two sons, Ernie Weisskopf and Corey Weisskopf, both of Merrill; three grandchildren, Toby Allen (Gina VanDerGeest) of Merrill, Michelle (Brad) Krueger of Merrill, and Joe (Samantha) Allen of Merrill; six great-grandchildren, Brenna Allen, Marley Krueger, Kaylynn Allen, Brady Krueger, Jaron Allen, and Jase Allen; and many nieces and nephews. Ernie was preceded in death by his wife, MaryAnn Weisskopf; parents, Adolph and Alsie Weisskopf; sister, Elsie Edens; and brother, Adolph Weisskopf.
The funeral service will be at 12:00 PM, Noon, Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Greg Laska will officiate. Burial will follow in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at the church. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill is assisting the family.
