Emily B. May, 86, of Merrill, formerly of Gleason, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Emily was born March 18, 1936, in Merrill, daughter of the late Carl and Marie (Wittwer) Runge. She married Virgil May on December 21, 1963, on the U.S. Virgin Islands. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1998. Emily was a member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Gleason. She enjoyed working on plastic canvas and puzzles, gardening, reading, and spending time with her family. For many years, she babysat her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Thomas May (Penny Zoellner) of Gleason, Marie (Al) Wardall of Schofield, Barb (Ward) Gremler of Tomahawk, Arlene (Dick) Duginski of Merrill, and Charlene (Scotty) Presley of Danville, Virginia; and seven grandchildren, Aleysa (Mark Lemmer) Wardall, Ryan (Elena) Wardall, Austin Presely, Aaron Presely, Daniel (Grace Frischmann) Duginski, McKenzie May, Olivia May and many nieces and nephews. Emily was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil May; parents, Carl and Marie Runge; and brothers, Robert (Cheryl) Runge and Charles (Raynette) Runge.
The funeral service for Emily will take place at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Greg Laska will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family.
