Obituary for Eileen M. Johnson
Eileen M. Johnson, 97, of Merrill, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Eileen was born March 18, 1921, in Racine, Wisconsin. She married Earl R. Johnson on June 24, 1940. He preceded her in death on January 7, 2005. Eileen was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Merrill. She enjoyed bowling and in 1983 was among the first group of inductees into the Bowling Hall of Fame. She also was a bowling coach. Eileen enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, and gardening and canning. She was an excellent cook and baker and made wedding and birthday cakes. Eileen enjoyed crocheting and sewing and had made several wedding dresses including her daughter, Jean’s dress.
Survivors include her daughters, Jean (Gary) Schmidt of Merrill and Linda (Orin) Legare of Randolph, MN; sons, John (Audrey) Johnson of Gleason and Randy (Denée) Johnson of Cannon Falls, MN; twelve grandchildren, Stacey, Angela, Timothy, Corey, Tyler, Noel, Tara, Dane, Brandon, Hillary, Blake and Brady; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Johnson; son, Richard ‘Dick’ Johnson; and six siblings, George, Milton, Theodore, Phyllis, Annette and Lois.
The funeral service for Eileen will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Patricia Schutz will officiate. Entombment will take place at Merrill Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the church. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
