Donald R. Paroubek, 94, of Merrill, passed away on August 29, 2024, at Aspirus Merrill Hospital.
Don was born April 9, 1930, in Merrill, son of Joseph and Ida (Wendt) Paroubek. He married the love of his life, Doris Zoellner on July 1, 1950.
Don attended school in Merrill and was a Class of 1948 Merrill High School graduate. He served in the Wisconsin National Guard Red Arrow Division from 1950 until 1956. Don worked at Merrill View Dairy and Semling and Menke companies in Merrill. He eventually took a position with Drott Case Manufacturing Co. in Schofield, and retired in 1983, after 25 years.
Don loved deer hunting and ice fishing, which he did a lot when he lived in a cabin on Bolton Lake in Lac Du Flambeau. He loved his automobiles; he kept them clean and looking like new. Don enjoyed working and enjoyed helping anyone in need. Don was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Merrill.
Don is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, and his dear friend, Joy Kolar-Schleicher.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Paroubek; parents, Joseph and Ida Paroubek; siblings, Myron Paroubek, Milton (Elaine) Paroubek, Norman (Emily) Paroubek, Angela (John) Koerner; as well as three siblings who passed away very young, Rosella, Roland and Wyman. Don was also preceded in death by his friend, Bud Krueger.
A graveside service will take place at 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 13, 2024, at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Neal Behm will officiate. Graveside military rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 1638, Merrill. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Merrill WI.
