Obituary for Donald A. Smith
Donald ‘Smitty’ A. Smith, 75, of Merrill, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at his home.
Don was born March 20, 1944 in Pulaski, son of the late Anton and Bernice (Pasowicz) Smith. Don graduated from Pulaski High School and attended St. Norbert College in De Pere for several years. He moved to Merrill shortly after college and worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Company and the former Oconomowoc Canning Company. He had also worked for the former Quality Furnace and Standard Oil. Don enjoyed hunting and cutting firewood up north with his buddies. He was a sports fan and especially liked watching the Green Bay Packers.
Survivors include his daughter, Jacqueline (Tony) Kufahl of Wausau; son, Thomas (Stacy) Smith of Merrill; his former wife and the mother to his children, Betty Smith of Merrill; step-grandchildren, Austin Kufahl, Britney Gable and McKayla Gable; and sister, Marlene Smith of Green Bay. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Bernice Smith; and his brother and sister-in-law, Norbert (Rita) Smith.
A private memorial service for Don will take place in Pulaski at a later date. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family.
