Obituary for David G. Weckwerth
David G. Weckwerth, 85, of Merrill, went to his eternal home on September 12, 2019 at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services.
David was born on April 8, 1934, in the Town of Corning, son of the late Erwin and Ruth Weckwerth. He graduated from Merrill High School with the class of 1952. Dave married the former Barbara Raasch on June 4, 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. She survives. Dave had served his country as a member of the Army National Guard. He was employed at Wausau Papers – Brokaw until his retirement. Dave had a passion for gardening and woodworking. He enjoyed playing sheepshead with his friends at the Eagles Club and playing cribbage.
Dave is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara Weckwerth; son, Peter (Pam) Weckwerth of Minocqua; daughter-in-law, Bobbie Weckwerth of Wausau; grandchildren, Matthew (Tiffany) Weckwerth of Green Bay, Tim Weckwerth of Wausau, Ericka (Tom) Lorenzen of Minocqua and Kate (Jeff) Dadamo of Austin, Texas; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Matthew; son, Steven; brother, Warren Weckwerth; and sister, Joyce Bjorge.
The funeral service for Dave will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Adam Rodriguez will officiate. Entombment will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M Thursday at the church. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family.
