Obituary for Bruce N. Hass
Bruce N. Hass, 83, of Merrill, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020 at his home under the care of his family and hospice.
Bruce was born September 17, 1936, in Merrill, son of the late Norman and Elsie (Thompson) Hass. He married Joyce C. Holl on February 15, 1958. She preceded him in death on April 25, 2015. Bruce enlisted in the United States Army on June 10, 1954 and was stationed in Korea. He was honorably discharged on June 8, 1957. Bruce was a proud veteran and had gone on the Never Forgotten Honor Flight last fall. Bruce worked as a patrol man with the Merrill Police Department. After retiring from the police force Bruce drove semi-trucks for 13 years. Bruce enjoyed hunting and fishing, trips to the casino, and he was a Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan. Bruce enjoyed flying remote controlled airplanes, and had built several of them. Most of all Bruce was a proud grandfather and enjoyed his grandkids.
Survivors include his daughter, Julie (Randy) Pierce of Hustisford, WI; sons, Michael ‘Mike’ (Bridgette) Hass and Gary (Sandy) Hass both of Merrill; grandchildren, Brett Pierce (Shannon Ward), Kayla Pierce (Matt Corcoran) and Jacob Hass; great-grandson, Jackson Pierce; sister, Sandra Grund of Merrill; and brother, James (Carol) Hass of Havasu, AZ. Bruce was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Hass; parents, Norman and Elsie Hass; and brother, Norman Hass.
The funeral will be at 12:00 PM, Noon, Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. The Rev. Lucas Williams will officiate. Burial will follow in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery with graveside Military Rites conducted by V.F.W. Post 1638 Honor Guard, Merrill. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
