Obituary for Alice D. Bacher
Alice D. Bacher, 100, of Merrill, died Monday, April 25, 2022, at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill.
Alice was born on May 17, 1921, in Hoffman, Illinois, daughter of the late William and Lydia (Rennegarbe) Fruend. She married Robert Bacher on March 29, 1938, in Merrill. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1977. Alice worked for thirty-seven years at the former Hanson Glove Factory and then at the former Fox Point Sportswear both in Merrill. She also worked part-time at the Foto News. Alice was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Merrill and volunteered there throughout the years. She enjoyed playing cards in various card clubs, hunting, fishing, and annual fishing trips to Canada.
Alice is survived by her grandchildren, Karla Alberti, Brenda Tummet, Patrick Bacher, Eric Bacher, Scott Bacher, Gregory Bacher, and Daniel Bacher; six great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Fern Bacher. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bacher; parents, William and Lydia Fruend; sons, Duane ‘Ike’ Bacher and Donald Bacher; daughter, Joyce (Phillip) Taylor; grandsons, Michael Bacher and Mitchell Bacher; and siblings, Evelyn (Otto) Zastrow, Ruffina (Hugo) Hagedorn, Hubert (Carol) Fruend, Wilbert (Evelyn) Fruend, Helen (Wilbert) Schenk, and Lester (Doris) Fruend.
The funeral service for Alice will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. David Szeto will officiate. Burial will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M Tuesday at the church. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family.
