Obituary for Dorothy E. Koehler
Dorothy E. Koehler, 97, of Merrill, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill.
Dorothy was born February 13, 1920 in the Town of Corning, Lincoln County, daughter of the late Fred and Anna (Berndt) Krause. She married Reuben Koehler on September 11, 1937 at St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill. He preceded her in death on September 16, 2002. Dorothy and Reuben were dairy farmers. Dorothy spent much of her time volunteering at her church and was a member of the St. Stephens’ Ladies Aid/Helping Hands. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, knitting and crocheting, spinning wool to make socks and mittens, and cooking and baking. Dorothy was a caregiver and took care of her father-in-law and mother-in-law and others in need.
Survivors include her son, Dennis (Ione) Koehler; five grandchildren, Tim (Dawn) Koehler, Tom (Jaime) Koehler, Rhonda (Dale) Kleinschmidt, Russ (Jackie) Monti and Ross (Theresa) Monti; 9 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice Teskey; and brother, Fred Krause. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Koehler; her parents, Fred and Anna Krause; her daughter and son-in-law, Jean (Robert) Monti; her siblings, George (Louise) Krause, Loretta (Bill) Ziemke, Alma (Bill) Volz, David (Shirley) Krause, Alvin Krause and infant Mary Ann Krause; and her brother-in-law, Don Teskey.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill. Pastor Brad Main will officiate. Burial will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 A.M. Friday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services is assisting the family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bell Tower Residence and the nurses at Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services for the loving care they gave Dorothy.
